nik178's Journal

day off

February 13, 2012 5:58am

I am not sure when I have actually taken a day off from the gym?! I did today - because they say a day of rest is just as important. . . But I find myself plotting to hit the treadmill when my little one takes a nap this afternoon.

Thoughts?

PS - I LOVE reading all of your journals and am continue to be motivated by your maxformations and determination.

HAPPY MONDAY! :)

I did take Monday off. Thanks for the insight! I used my rest day to write legislative testimony, finish 2 - 14 pages papers, finish a PPT presentation, bake dance class cupcakes, finish taxes and take care of a sick 2 year old. Maybe I need a re-do on the "rest" part of the day! lol

I was trying to cut and paste something from one of Polar Bear's journals and post it, but I can't add anything to Steve's posting. Excellent post Steve!

Taking at least one day completely off per week is not just good, it is VITAL. Fitness is a "3 legged stool" as a friend of mine says. The 3 REQUIRED elements are 1) exercise, 2) proper nutrition and 3) REST (the most often overlooked). Rest consists of at least 7 and preferrably 8 hours of sleep everyday and at least one day completely off from training per week. Otherwise you run a high risk of overtraining syndrome and subsequently increase the risk of injury.
I'm impressed and inspired by your ambition and motivation, but don't sacrifice a rest day.
