Oh, Max Muscle, how I have missed you!

February 12, 2012 7:49am

The past few weeks have been rough, to say the least. It’s amazing how much the kitchen plays a role in a person’s fitness journey. Not having a kitchen has completely sidelined me. My house is a relatively small house; it’s a 1920’s Cape Cod with approximately 1600 sqft. The main floor is our living space, consisting of a living room, a “family room” (which is more of a multipurpose DISASTER room at the moment), a ¾ bath, and a kitchen. Since we decided to completely gut our kitchen, everything that was IN our kitchen is now in our disaster room. The only somewhat clear space is the living room. We decided to do the kitchen reno on our own with help from a few close friends, which means that even though it’s saving us at least $20,000 it’s going to take weeks longer than contracting it out would. Prior to this project, we rarely ever ate out or ordered in. Since starting this project, though, we have done way too much of both. Training has been nonexistent, as well. I’m terrified to step on the scale, too afraid of what it will read.

On top of the kitchen renovation, in the very near future I might have to start ordering my MM products online. Unfortunately, my favorite store on Earth might be closing. When they told me that, I stocked up on all of my favorite products, but what I will miss the most is talking with the owners. They are absolutely amazing people. I just hope that they figure out an alternative to having to close their doors.

So, that is where I have been the past couple of weeks. I’ve come to the point where I just can’t stand eating out and not training any longer. The kitchen will be an ongoing project for at least another 3-4 weeks, that’s out of my control. What I CAN control is my time during the day and what I choose to fill it with. I am going back to the days when I would head to the gym as soon as my son gets on the bus. That will leave me with about 4 hours to work on school before getting ready to work on the kitchen in the evenings. As for nutrition, I’m going to rely heavily on small, quick meals and supplements. My goals are still to weigh about 155 pounds by May 4th, and 145-148 pounds by the end of June, with a BFC of no more than 19-20%. At this point, as long as I get back on track right now, I can realistically achieve those goals in a healthy manner.

Here’s to today, tomorrow, and the next day!

I’ve been thinking about you and your remodel while we have been demoing our master bath! Although you have it MUCH worse. I have another bathroom,,,,,, you don’t have another kitchen!!! Good for you doing most of the work. My hubby and I know our limitations. We can demo and do finishing work, but pluming, electric, drywall, etc……. not so much!!!!

I wish I was doing a master bath right now! This is not our "forever" house, but I can guarantee that I will never do another kitchen remodel again. I hope yours turns out as beautiful as you plan :-)

The great thing about bumps in the road.... easy to get over... you can do this. What a big undertaking you have had and can be hard for anyone. You will get back at it and you can do it.. and your goals will be met if not exceeded .... you go this girl
