So reality hit just a few months ago when several eye openers blasted me at the same time....
I received a phone call from my homie's wife (this is our nickname for one another, unless you ask our spouses and they will call us the other spouse) informing me my best friend was in the ER and had a stroke. Fortunately he has made a full recovery since, but then I was also told by another friend that he had to start taking cholesteral meds. Then I reconnecting on facebook with a good friend from the Marine Corps that he and I went through boot camp together and remained within the same unit until we finished our service. I saw his pictures and was stunned as he is currently in the process of obtaining a pro bodybuiling card..... he and I started lifting together and were the same size back then. And then there was the final straw at the end of this 2 week nightmare. I had my 20 year class reunion, and of course alot people were walking around snapping pics. The following morning, there it was. The picture that snapped my mental state in half. I was looking at someone that just couldn't possibly be me, but it was. How in the world did I get be this big???
That week I did some soul searching, and put the pieces back together and made the decision that things were going to change. I used to run around at 180, but at the time I decided to make the life change I was 275..... 35% body fat.
Now I eat clean diet and excersize regularly. I have made some progress.... but the road to the goal is a long way away!!! |
